MIKE
CREASY - Pilot
I grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. My passion for flying
began at the ripe age of five when my father took me
and my brother to our first air show. My first helicopter
ride was in LifeGuard 10, a Bell 222 based in Roanoke.
After high school I joined the United States Navy where
I attended Naval Aircrew Candidate School, Navy Rescue
Swimmer School, and Aviation Warfare Systems Operator
School. I spent five years flying SH-60B Seahawks as
an aircrewman assisting pilots in critical Anti-Submarine
Warfare and Search and Rescue Operations.
Upon completion
of my tour in the Navy I moved to Abingdon, VA to finish
college and had the opportunity to work with a NASCAR
Busch Grand National team. There I started entertaining
the idea of learning to fly helicopters. I distinctively
remember watching all the NASCAR drivers and team guys
flying in and out of all the tracks. This really fascinated
me, so in June of 2004 I moved to Portland, Oregon to
pursue my dream of becoming a helicopter pilot. I spent
two and half years at a Hillsboro Aviation training
to fly helicopters. I finished training in summer of
2004 with my Private, Commercial, and Flight Instructor
certificates.
In 2006 my wife
and I relocated to Williamsburg, VA where I spent two
years as a flight instructor flying Robinson R22’s
and R44’s in Chesapeake. The summer of 2006 I
completed seven trans-continental ferry trips from Los
Angeles, CA back to Virginia in Robinson R44’s.
It really is a great opportunity to see this beautiful
country from a helicopter, definitely one of the greatest
experiences of my life.
In the fall of
2006 I went to work in the Gulf of Mexico for Rotorcraft
Leasing Co. flying with some of the best and most experienced
pilots I have had the pleasure of flying with. There
I spent one and half years flying Bell Jetrangers, Longrangers,
and most recently the 407.
I joined the HeloAir
team in January 2008 with over 2200 hours flying helicopters
and I am really excited and honored to be a part of
such an exceptional team. My wife Courtney, Mom, and
brother Todd along with the rest of my family have been
very supportive of my career and without there help
I may never have accomplished my dream of becoming a
helicopter pilot. Thanks guys! My wife and I currently
reside in West Point, VA with our two Labrador retrievers
Midas and Lucy and our cat, Tate.
